Towing Issues: Lost In Houston, Texas, houston police department, tow line

Question
My vehicle was towed on 4/12/08 in Houston, Texas.  They have a tow line 713-308-8580, but they can't tell me where my car was towed as the tow slip says not specified.  I have called all the storage lots in my area, the Houston Police Department Impound lots for further investigations and fingerprinting, they don't have it and no one seems to know what to do except for me to track down the officer who ordered the tow.  What more can I do and what is the responsibility of the Police Department when they order a vehicle towed but don't know where it is?  Thanks.

Answer
Well if the police ordered the tow (or possibly in the case of Houston the police might of allowed a chaser to get it), you should have some kind of accountability on paper from the police department... But its not always that way...

I think that if no one can find it, or knows where it is, it should be reported as stolen.

Now responsibility of the police department it might be hard to prove anything wrong on their part...
I was not there and I am not totally familiar with the towing operations in Houston. I do know that there are some things that are different than most other areas when related to towing...

I really have no idea what to suggest other than going the report it stolen route.
