Towing Issues: sign obstructed and truck still towed, tow companies, illegal parking

My truck was towed from my apartment complex when the main gate was broken and opened, and the towing sign was partially obstructed.  If there is a case should I take this up with the apartment complex or towing company.

Well first of all, you need to find out what the state or city laws are regarding the posting of signs for towing of vehicles for illegal parking...  

Each City or State has different laws, and some even have no laws regarding this issue. I can not provide "real specific information" here as there is a huge hole in the information provided to me such as missing City or state...

BUT GENERALLY, there should be signs posted at the entrance to the complex and it should state, who can park or what kind of parking is allowed (tenant, permit, etc), and the tow company name and number to call... (Yes I know some laws require other info, but again I have no info to work with so the answer is GENERIC here)

I would talk to the apartment complex as they should of been the ones to authorize the tow, and had to sign an "authorization to impound"


BUT some complexes (and areas) allow for tow companies to "patrol" the lots looking for violations (again they do need authorizations, but they can also receive blanket authorizations to tow "specific rules violations")
