Towing Issues: TOWED FROM PARKING LOT OF BUSINESS, coffee shop, tow truck

I was recently towed from a coffee shop parking. The attendant stated that he observed me walking away from my vehicle, and did not immediately enter the establishment in whose parking lot my vehicle was parked.  If the attendant is present isn't it his job to inform me to read the signs before calling a tow truck? He said that I was illegally parked.

I can not answer this question due to lack of information which includes CITY and STATE so that I can research the laws which apply.

But do we really need both signs, and people to tell us that we are in the wrong.
I imagine that the attendant has tried to warn people, and has been yelled at, threatened over trying to "help" people by warning them. So he most likely has given up on that.
