Towing Issues: Towing because of expired tags, west palm beach, tow companies

Question
I'm from West Palm Beach, FL. I was on spring break for a week and when I got back my car had been towed from the apt complex because the registration tag was expired. They do put a warning on the car before towing it away. But my question is that are they allowed to tow it away and then charge me $130 from my apt residence when I was not even in town to take care of the warning. If I had got the warning it would have been taken care of.

Answer
well it's legal to tow the vehicle if you are home or not if it is in violation of the rules - regulations of the complex...

They really do not know if you are home, sick, dead, on vacation, or just ignoring them when they knock or call you.. And nothing says they have to contact you at all in person before they tow..

Do you have to pay for it, sure you do, you own the vehicle. That is part of the responsibility of ownership... Just like you know you are supposed to keep the tags current also, keep insurance on it, and such...

Sorry but I really do not understand why you are questioning the fee to provide the service... Is the city or the state supposed to pay the towing fees, or am I or other people responsible for the fees...

Tow companies are private businesses not tax payer supported like the police and fire departments...
