Towing Issues: standard vs. maximum towing weight, outback travel, hitch weight

Question
I have a 2006 Extended Trailblazer 4X4, with tow package, cooling transmission and equalizer. I want to tow an Outback travel trailer. The trailblazer standard towing is 4800 and maximum 6500. The trailer weight is 4660, the hitch weight is 350, and I load 200 lbs of supplies into the camper.

I do not understand if I go by the standard weight or the maximum weight. I figure it all weighs 5200, but I am told that I should never go over the 4800.

Can you tell me if I am okay or how to figure this? Thank you.

Answer
Well I understand it all just as much as you do...

I think its a simple answer of they have the maximum limit for towing as the top end of what they will allow it to do. But thats one of those it does not happen all the time kind of things.

Standard towing might be normal stuff for long distance type of use.  BUT a few times I have seen it listed as where they have a differant limit for manual (standard) transmissions verses Automatics.

Sorry but I do not have a clear answer for you on this.
