Toyota Repair: rav 4 1997 transmission, shift cable, park position

Question
good day. i have a 1997 3-door rav 4 and i was just wondering why my car reverses whenever i put it on PARK. and also, my brakes squeaks whenever i press on it. is this normal?

Answer
For some reason the shift cable is out of adjustment or is damged for some other reason, try loosening the shift cable securing nut at the transmission shift selector, it's on the front on the transmission near the radiator, after the nut is loose put the shifter inside into park and then move the lever on the transmission until it clicks into park position, at that time tighten the nut back up, the transmission should shift normally, if adjustment doesn't help let me know.
The brakes should be checked if the squeek is there when braking, the brakes may be low which causes the wear sensors to contact the rotors.
