Volkswagen Repair: 1998 VW Polo Brakes, vw polo, vw dealer

Question
Hi ryan, need some advice,i have a 1998 VW polo,1.0 engine. Is it normal for the front brake discs(vented) to get too hot to touch after driving around for 15 mins at no more than 30-40 mph.I have had the car into both Kwik fit and the VW dealer and they both say its normal,The front brake bads feel to be binding a little bit if you jack the car up and spin the wheels, but VW dealer says this is normal? thanks.

Answer
Its very normal for the brakes to get hot to the touch,  I dont know if you've ever watched the GT2 cars run at night on tv but their brakes glow red they get so hot.

It is also normal to have some drag on the wheels when you jack up the car, But if you can turn them by hand then there is not enough friction to pose any problems.

You will smell it burning if the calipers are seized.

Good Luck,
Ryan
