Buick/Olds: 1994 Olds Bravada, olds bravada, dash lights

Question
1994 Olds Bravada
Hello and Happy Holidays,

When I bought this vehicle the digital speedometor didn't work.  I called around and it was going to cost $200.  My wife was driving one day and it just came on.  We took it out of town the weekend of Thankgiving and it worked all weekend.  Then it just went out again but now all the dash lights (fuel gage, temp gage, & rpms) are out.  I was told there was a fuse panell under the hood, but I can't find it.  I have checked all the other fuses I have found.  Can you help me please?

Answer
There are NO fuses that control the digital display as it is a microprocessor within the dash controlled by the vehicles computer system.

TESTING of the display inputs is necessary to determine if the fault is within the display, In the computer system or in the wiring connectors.

In most cases it is a fault within the microprocessor and the complete display will need to be replaced.

I have NEVER seen a rebuilt display and or rebuilt one for less than $450.00.

If your thinking USED as in junk yard, This IS extremly RISKY as you have no idea IF the junk yard one works or NOT and if you install a faulty or shorted out junk yard display you can destroy additional related components such as the vehicles computer.

I NEVER recommend junk yard electronic parts becasue you do not know their condition and you can cause additional damage to your vehicle.
