Dodge: 96 dodge ram 3.9l, vacuum leak, dodge ram

the above truck spits out a trouble code of 1211 and i have the worst time keeping it running when its cold, i have to hold down the accelerator until it is completely warm. when i have th a/c or heater running through the face vents it(the air) automatically switches to the defrost vent when i accelerate and goes back when i decelerate i also have a ticking that sounds to be coming from the timing chain. any thoughts?

The vents are changing due to a vacuum leak.I had to put a check valve on mine.You also may want to check the servo under the battery tray to make sure the acid has not eaten a hole in one of the lines.As far as the codes did you scan the codes with a code reader or one that you count the blinks?If you have very many miles on the truck it would be wise to go ahead and change the timing chain,it has slack in it and is causing the tick.
