GM-GMC: TRAIL BLAZER IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER, steering wheel lock, steering wheel puller

Question
i NEED TO REMOVE A NONFUNCTIONAL IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER FROM THE COLUMN AND DONT WANT TO DAMAGE IT PLEASE ADVISE OF PROCESS

Answer
I cannot help you with airbag procedures because I do not own a vehicle with an airbag.

On the GMs I have worked on, the lock cylinder is held in place by a screw that is mounted inside the column.  To gain access to it, the steering wheel, steering wheel lock plate, high tension spring, and turn signal assembly must be removed (the turn signal assembly does not have to out of the column but it must be pulled out slightly).

This work requires a steering wheel puller and a special tool to compress the spring to allow removal of a retaining ring that holds the steering wheel lock plate in place.

I would advise caution around the airbag and I recommend that you take the vehicle to a properly equipped shop for this work.
