Mazda: 2000 miata, handheld scanner, cam sensor

QUESTION: cranks over wont run.fuel pump running.fuel at injector rail.white/blue spark at plugs.can hear clicking under hood when removing/installing main green relay.has a new cam sensor.will run momentarily if you pour gas in the intake.gives no codes on handheld scanner.please help

ANSWER: If it fires with starting fluid or a shot of gas then a fuel or timing issue exists.  When it does fire does it run cleanly or does it spit and backfire?  Spark on all four?

Then your problem is fuel.  The pump may be able to deliver but may not sustain pressure.  The regulator is in the tank with the pump.  Also check/change the fuel filter as a first step to diagnosing before condemning the pump/regulator.  Buy the Mazda assembly.  We have changed a few due to pump noise and intermittent shut down issues.
