Mercedes: Steering Wheel, power steering fluid, steering wheel

Question
ON MY MERCEDES CL500 THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A SOFT 'WHOOSH' SOUND WHEN I TURN THE WHEEL AT LOW PARKING SPEED - WHAT CAUSES THIS PLEASE?

Answer
Steve,
I would check the power steering fluid level. You may have air in the system because the fluid has leaked out. After you have checked the fluid. Add if fluid necessary,....if full, have someone start the engine, and have someone rotate the steering wheel while you stand near the engine with hood up to see if you can determine the location of the sound. A piece of water hose about one meter long can be used as an analogue hearing device to pin point such noises. Just be careful not to get the hose into the belts or fan.
Good Luck
Rob
