Mercedes: buying a used mercedes benz, mercedes benz, ml320

hi whunter, Ive been looking around for a used mercedes benz suv. I have finally found one that I like from a good and reputable dealer here in denver. My question is, since I have never owned a mercedes benz, is 138,000 miles alot of miles for a 1998Mclass ML320? and it was priced around 10,999$ is that a good deal?
How long do mercedes benz really last? up to how many miles?
I'd appreciate any maintenance tips you have as I have never owned a mercedes benz.

That is high miles for an ML320.
Plan on $3000 - $7000 repairs in your first year, if it is well cared for.

My personal opinion/bias is diesel, the 1985 and older model cars are pure mechanical injection, with proper care they generally last 300000 - 400000 miles between engine rebuild, and the average person can DIY most repairs.
