Suzuki: 1988 suzuki samari, suzuki samari, spider gears

Question
Any way to take the slack out of rear end on a 1988 stock model. If you jack the vehicle up and rotate wheels back and forth there is a lot of slack. Any advise???

Answer
Try this:  with the rear wheels on the ground, and the trans in neutral, and the t-case in 2wd high, and the park brake on, see how many degrees you can rotate the driveshaft back and forth.  If it's significantly less than 1/4 turn, as in 1/8 turn or less, ignore it, it's of no significance.  If It's more, it's time to consider the possibility of new ring and pinion, spider gears and bearings.  HOWEVER!!! if it's quiet, and drives ok, you're worrying about nothing.
