Suzuki: esteem problem, malfunction indicator light, scan tool

Question
I have a 2001 esteem, with a 1.8.  I have had a check engine light for a month or so now and I had thought it was related to the remote start. now it is slugish starting, almost like it is flooded. It takes a long time to start.  what could this be?

Answer
No idea.  My field of expertise is Samurai/Sidekick/Tracker late eighties and early nineties.  You need to find out what the MIL(malfunction indicator light) is all about.  You really shouldn't drive it that long without knowing whether whatever is wrong has the potential to cause permanent engine damage.  Not prudent.  You need to get a code scan tool on it to find out what's wrong, and THEN you will know whether you can drive it with impunity.
