Tips on Buying Cars: buying a used suv, jeep grand cherokee, 2008 saturn vue

Hi,
  We need to get rid of our 2002 Explorer because of fears of great expenses coming.
  We have looked at dealers and private owners and prices are so high.
  I have found a private owner with a 2008 Saturn Vue 4wd for $12,500 that looks good.  But I hear all kinds of bad things about used GM cars.  With Saturn out of business can I get parts and service?  The main thing is it a good buy or going to devour a lot of money from bad design?
   Can you name other Suvs that price range that I can look at?  We do tow a 1500lb trailer in the summer for vacation.

How many miles on it? If under 50k is a good deal, assuming the carfax is clean. Jeep grand cherokee is good also for towing. If you can find another explorer, even a year or 2 older that may also work in price range. Let me know if you have any other questions.
