I have never replaced a value stem any tricks, dos it nerd lob or seal?

For snap in valves, there is a tool that screws onto the end of the valve that makes this very easy.  Google "tire valve installation tool".  A bit of tire mounting lube also is advised.

If you are using metal valves, then they are clamped on with a washer and a nut, and it's pretty obvious how that is done.
