How to Change a Headlamp Bulb in a Hyundai Azera

The Azera, which is slightly larger than the typical mid-size sedan, is quickly becoming one of Hyundai's top sellers, even above the Sonata. The Azera is known for lots of interior room and top-notch safety features. Among those safety features are the headlights -- however, headlight bulbs do burn out from time to time. When this happens it is best to change the bulb out immediately. Installation of a new bulb takes approximately 10 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket set
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Replacement bulb
  • Pop the hood on your Azera and remove the negative battery cable with your socket set. Pull the cable aside to make sure it does not have contact with any other metal inside your engine compartment.

  • Determine which headlight is burned out and move to that side of the hood. Look at the rear of the headlight assembly. You will see a socket-like connection running into the back of the headlight assembly. Squeeze the two removal tabs inwards and twist the socket to the left. If you cannot get purchase on the two tabs with your thumb and forefinger, try using the needle-nose pliers. After you turn the socket to the left pull it straight out, free from the headlamp assembly.

  • Turn the bulb to the left until it clicks and pops out.

  • Insert the new bulb into the socket and turn it to the right until it clicks back into place.

  • Slide the bulb and its socket back into the rear of the headlight assembly and twist it to the right, back into place.

  • Replace the negative battery cable and close your hood.
