How to Replace a DRL Relay on a Saturn SL

The daytime running lights (DRL) on your Saturn SL increase the visibility of your car on the road. If the daytime running lights stop working, but the other lights function properly, the fuse for the daytime running light system may have failed. You can replace the fuse for your daytime running lights easily at home. Buy a variety pack of fuses to keep in your car, and use a 10-amp fuse for the daytime running lights.

Things You'll Need

  • 10-amp fuse
  • Locate the fuse panel beneath the dash on the driver side of the car. Grasp the small lip on the fuse panel cover and pull the cover back to remove it.

  • Locate the daytime running light fuse in the fuse panel. The DRL fuse is in the second row from the left, in the fourth slot down.

  • Grasp the fuse with the fuse pullers found on the inside of the fuse panel cover. Pull the fuse straight back to remove it. Do not twist the fuse, or it may break.

  • Insert a new 10-amp fuse in the slot by pushing it straight into place until it stops. Push the fuse panel cover back into place. The cover will click when it locks in place.
