How to Replace a Honda Accord Wagon Antenna

The Honda Accord, known for its quality and durability, is one of the best-selling automobiles in the United States. The Honda Accord wagon was sold between 1990 and 1997. The Accord wagon came with a power antenna, mounted on the rear of the vehicle on the driver's side.

Things You'll Need

  • Pliers
  • Needle nose pliers (optional)
  • Honda tool #07JAA-001000A (recommended)
  • Hand towel
  • Replacement antenna
  • Remove the nut and washer that surrounds antenna. Use the Honda antenna tool for best results. If you cannot acquire the tool, wrap a hand towel around the antenna nut and use the pliers to remove it.

  • Turn on the ignition to extend the antenna. Extending the antenna makes pulling it out of its casing easier. If your antenna is broken and will not extend, use needle nose pliers to pull the antenna from its casing. Disconnect your negative battery cable when the antenna is removed from the casing.

  • Open the cargo hatch and pull back the carpet liner on the driver's side to access the antenna motor. Disconnect the cable coming from the antenna. Pull the antenna completely through the casing, cable and all.

  • Run the cable from the new antenna into the casing and connect it to the antenna motor. Secure the antenna with the washer and nut. Pull the carpet in the cargo area back over the trim panel and reconnect your negative battery cable.
