Troubleshooting a 1995 Jeep Cherokee

Factory Recalls

  • If you begin to have any kind of problems at all with your 1995 Jeep Cherokee, the first thing you should do is check for any factory recalls. Though it is inconvenient, most cars on the market leave the factory with parts that will later be found to be defective. Some defective parts can be minor annoyances while others can be a danger to whomever is behind the wheel. It is a law that Jeep contact you via mail or telephone if ever a recall should happen for your 1995 Jeep Cherokee.

Engine Light

  • If your "Check Engine" warning light appears on your dashboard for no apparent reason, this could be the result of something quite simple. Any moisture at all underneath your gas cap will trigger a sensor and cause your check engine light to come on, even though this ultimately has nothing to do with your engine. If you've recently gotten gas during rainy or snowy conditions, this is the cause. Take a rag and wipe all the moisture out from underneath your gas cap and reattach it firmly into place. Twist until it clicks to secure it as much as possible.

Acceleration

  • If your 1995 Jeep Cherokee begins to jostle or hesitates at all during acceleration, there are a few things that could lead to this. The main reason is using cheap fuel during the winter months of the year. Cheap fuel does not have the octane required to operate a 1995 Jeep Cherokee properly during these frigid conditions. Hesitation during accelerating can also be caused by obstructions in your fuel line. Always be sure to change your fuel filter every few thousand miles -normally whenever you get your oil changed.
