Infiniti I30 Radio Removal

The Infiniti I30 is a midsize vehicle produced by Nissan. Infiniti is Nissan's luxury nameplate, similar to Toyota's Lexus brand. Remove the I30's radio to prepare for an interior overhaul, such as dash dissasembly, or if you want to install a new CD player in the vehicle. With a couple of household tools, the process takes about 15 minutes.

Things You'll Need

  • Pliers
  • Trim panel tool
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Park on an even surface. Move the I30's gearshift to "N" and set the emergency brake. Turn the engine off. Open the hood and unhook the negative cable from the battery with the pliers.

  • Pry along the edge of the air-vent panel (above the radio) with a plastic trim tool. Work your way around the panel until it's free from the dash. Pull it out. On the back you'll see a connection for the hazard flasher; unplug it.

  • Pry along the edge of the trim panel around the gear shift gate. Work your way around until this panel is unhooked, and then lift it up to remove it. You'll see two golden screws behind the front part of the panel.

  • Remove the two screws with a Phillips screwdriver, and then remove the two screws behind the air vent panel. Pull the radio out of the dash. It's attached to the vent controls. Unplug the two harness on the back of the radio.

  • Remove the four Phillips screws on each side of the radio. These hold the radio to the vent control. Slide the radio out of the setup.
