How to Install a Weatherguard Truck Box

Weather Guard truck boxes have a long history of quality and durability. The boxes are easy to install, reliable in inclement weather and extremely challenging to break into, unlike some other truck boxes on the market. A great way to optimize the cab space of a pickup, Weather Guard boxes feature a safe and secure storage facility for tools and other components.

Things You'll Need

  • Helper
  • Weather Guard box
  • All-purpose grease
  • Ratchet and socket set
  • Place the protective rubber bed rail pads (supplied with the Weather Guard truck box) on the upper corner of the bed rails.

  • Recruit a helper to assist in carrying the Weather Guard box and place the outer rail supports onto the rubber pads. Be sure when aligning the box that you have enough room to open the flip-top style box cover without interfering with the rear truck window.

  • Insert one of the mounting clamps under the driver's side front of the box first. There are four mounting clamps to secure the box to the truck, but Weather Guard offers three pre-drilled holes per side for custom fitting. Align the clamps to the best fitting hole.

  • Place the fender washer onto the shaft of the supplied retaining bolt and then place a small amount of grease on the threads of the bolt shaft.

  • Place the bolt through the pre-drilled slotted hole in the truck box and align it to the threaded lock nut on the box clamp. Tighten the bolt 3/4 of the way with a ratchet and socket.

  • Install the other clamps and bolts in a clockwise manner and tighten 3/4 of the way until the box is properly aligned. Once aligned, check the flip-top style box cover for interference with the rear window.

  • Tighten the bolts snugly once you have ensured that the box is properly aligned and the cover (flip-top style) does not interfere with the rear window.
