Tinting tail lights with window tint can give them a smokey appearance. Dark-colored tail lights can be expensive, so why not tint the tail lights you already have? It's cheap and easy. If you get pulled over by a police officer and told that the dark tail lights are illegal, you can peel the tint off and avoid a ticket.
Remove the tail lights from your car with a screwdriver or socket and ratchet set. Remove the electrical plug behind the light with a flat screwdriver.
Place the tint over the tail light (without removing the backing), and can cut the tint close to the size of the tail light.
Spray the tail light with the soapy water, soaking the entire lens. Peel the backing from the tint and place it on the lens.
Use the squeegee to smooth the tint over the lens. The tint can be moved slightly if enough soapy water was used underneath.
Cut slits into the tint over the curves in the lights. Smooth the tint as much as possible.
Blow hot air on the tint with the blow dryer and smooth out any wrinkles. Pull the excess tint toward the edges of the light. Trim the excess with the utility knife.
Stick black electrical tape around the edges of the lens and tint to help hold the tint in place.
