How to Remove Tape Residue From Car Glass

Sometimes tape seems the perfect choice to affix signs, numbers or other items to your car's glass windows. While the tape does the job it's intended to do, it often presents a problem when you attempt to remove it from the glass. Even if you do manage to successfully peel the tape from the surface, you will likely note that there is residue left behind.

Things You'll Need

  • Petroleum-based pre-wash spray
  • Nylon net scrubbing sponge
  • White vinegar
  • Spray bottle
  • Lint-free towels
  • Spray the tape residue with a petroleum-based pre-wash spray. Spray enough so that the areas affected by residue are coated.

  • Leave the spray on the tape residue for approximately five minutes.

  • Scrub the residue away with a nylon net scrubbing sponge.

  • Pour 1 cup of white vinegar and 1 cup of water into an empty spray bottle.

  • Saturate the cleaned areas with the vinegar and water mixture. Wipe dry with a lint-free towel.
