How to Remove Glue From Windscreens

Glue on your windscreen, whether it's school glue or a type of super glue, creates a stain magnet on your glass. In addition to attracting dirt, the glue stain can also distract you while you're driving or obstruct your view. Removing glue from your windscreen isn't difficult and can be done with the use of supplies found around the home. Even though the removal process is simple, care should be taken in order to avoid damaging the surface.

Things You'll Need

  • Nail polish remover
  • Clean cloths
  • Plastic scraper
  • Bucket
  • Dish soap
  • Glass cleaner
  • Wet a clean cloth with nail polish remover. Gently rub the nail polish remover over the glue stain to loosen the glue by breaking its bond with the glass surface.

  • Lift the softened glue from your windscreen by gently scraping it with a plastic scraper. Alternately, repeat the application of nail polish remover with scraping up the glue until you're unable to remove any more glue.

  • Fill a bucket with hot tap water and a few drops of dish soap. Soak a clean cloth in the soapy solution. Lay the cloth over the remaining glue residue on your windscreen and leave it there for 10 to 20 minutes to remove the remaining glue.
