How to Program a 2007 Ford Mustang Remote

The 2007 Mustang represented the fourth model year in a series that received a complete makeover back in 2004. Several styling cues from Mustangs of years past were evident in this generation of Mustang, giving the car a retro look. The 2007 models were equipped with many convenient features, such as the remote keyless entry system. A hand-held transmitter, small enough to fit on a key ring, is able to lock and unlock the doors, open the rear trunk lid and operate a panic button. Replacement remote transmitters can be purchased, but must be programmed before they will work on your particular Mustang.

Things You'll Need

  • Remote transmitters
  • Unlock the car doors, using a remote transmitter or the power lock button. Do not unlock the doors manually.

  • Sit in the driver's seat and close the door. Have all remote transmitters with you, as any transmitter left out of this sequence will no longer work. Place the key into the ignition switch. Cycle the ignition switch from the the "OFF" position to the "ON" position eight times in rapid succession--within ten seconds--ending with the key still in the "ON" position.

  • Wait for the doors to lock and then unlock automatically, as this signifies that the remote transmitter programming mode has been activated.

  • Press any key on one of the transmitters within 20 seconds of completing step 2. Wait for the doors to lock and then unlock, which signifies that the remote has been programmed successfully. Repeat this step for all additional transmitters that you wish to program.

  • Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position. Wait for the doors to lock and then unlock, which signifies that the remote transmitter programming mode has been exited.
