How to Lubricate the Door Striker Plate and Tracks in a Chrysler Town & Country

If your Chrysler Town and Country is suffering from a squeaky door, or what feels like a heavy door when you try and open and close it, then it's time to apply a little lubricant. It'll take just a few minutes and you'll have your Chrysler Town and Country back on the road in no time.

Things You'll Need

  • Chrysler Town and Country
  • Mopar lubricant
  • Rag
  • Open the doors of your Chrysler Town and Country. There are two doors which swing open in the front and two doors which slide open in the back. All four of which will still have the door striker plate and tracks. This simply refers to the hardware found on the inside of the door and door frame which locks the door into place while closed. Locate these pieces.

  • Brush and wipe away any grit and debris that has built up. According to the Chrysler Town and Country owner's manual, whenever you are lubricating hardware on the car, you must give it a good wipe down first. This is especially true of the door striker plate and tracks because they tend to build up with large amounts of wax from the car wash.

  • Lubricate the door striker plate and tracks using the Mopar series of lubricants. Chrysler recommends the Mopar brand for all lubrication. This can be purchased right from the Chrysler dealership or an after-market auto parts store.

  • Slide the back doors and close the front doors several times so that the Mopar lubricant really works itself into the door striker plate and tracks.

  • Look to see if any excess lubricant has built up on the door striker plates and tracks after opening and closing the doors. If so, wipe it away to complete the job.
