BMW 328I Lug Nut Torque Specs

The BMW 328i 3 Series was made during the E36 and E46 generation of this popular lineup. The 328i is powered by a smooth, powerful straight-six engine and is also fun to drive thanks to the chassis and suspension design. The 328i uses a five-lug wheel bolt pattern for its wheels. If the wheels are removed for any reason, they need to be tightened to the proper specification for safety reasons. Lug bolts should also be checked periodically to ensure that they are properly tightened.

Lug Nut Torque Spec

  • The BMW 328i uses a five-lug wheel, which means that is the wheel is held on with five lug bolts. The lug bolts are tightened to 90 foot-pounds of torque once they are on.

Installing the Wheels

  • A BMW wheels are installed by sliding them onto the hubs at all four corners and then threading on the lug bolts. The lug bolts are then tightened to the torque setting of 90 ft.-lbs. with a torque wrench to ensure that they are properly tightened.

Checking Lug Nut Torque

  • Lug bolts settings should be checked periodically with a torque wrench to ensure that they are safely tightened. This is done with the BMW parked on a flat, level surface.
