Package Deal Part VI

Last month, in an effort to get our BeBop's fiberglass cab and Walton chassis ready to drop off at Paint N Place and Specialized Powdercoating (respectively), we temporarily fit the Smeding Performance 351 crate engine and TCI transmission and built a rack to house the 14-gallon polyethylene fuel tank that will be located under the bed floor. This month, we're continuing the pre-fitting of all the "little stuff" that should be temporarily installed prior to finish work. You know, little stuff like steering column, gauges, pedals, and linkage.

For starters, Sacramento Vintage Ford supplied us with a plethora of Lokar goodies, most important of which are the gas and brake pedals and accelerator linkage. They also sent the ididit chrome steering column that is made specifically for '53-56 F-100s. Also included were all the Borgeson couplers and double-D shaft necessary for the job. Finally, we received the VDO gauges we ordered. They have a classic white-faced look and chrome bezel that will contrast well with the "Rockstar Red" AutoAir Colors paint we just picked out. As with every installment of our '56 buildup, unless we tell you different, each and every component, part, or kit you see is available directly from Sacramento Vintage Ford and is ready to ship. Give them a call or log on to the Web site for more information. And stay tuned next month when we visit Specialized Powdercoating in Huntington Beach, California, for some world-class chassis coating.
