Auto Insurance Claims: My totaled Motorcycle!, leaving the scene of an accident, maintainence

My motorcycle was in my parking lot of my apartment complex. a sub-contractor of the maintainence department backed over the top of it. Long story short it was a hit and run(I have a witness!) The police caught the driver and he was ticketed for leaving the scene of an accident! Now I just purchased the motorcycle 3 weeks earlier for $1500.00 but the bike is worth $2400.00 with all of the extras that are on the bike probably $3000.00. My insurance company only wants to give me what I paid for the bike! How should this be handled I live in NY if this matters! Thanks for your time

HI Carmen,

You will have to go to 2 -3 motorcycle stores of the brand you own and have them give you a written retail appraisal of it. You can also look online to find others like your and what they are selling for. Then present your findings to the insurance company to negotiate a better price.
