Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Ac Clutch Noisecx4pu, psi max, tahao

Question
QUESTION: I have a 2005 silverado, 5.3V8 with 35K miles. I had a shrader valve go bad on the AC and after replacing it and recharging the system the AC Clutch chatters for 10-15 seconds on initial startup. I had this problem with my 2008 Tahao and Chevrolet fixed it by reprograming the computer pertaining to the AC. Does anyone one know of a fix for this without having to go spend alot of money at the dealer because my truck is out of warranty.
Thanks,
Steve

ANSWER: Hi Steve

Try and get the pressures on the system for me.  I believe you may be low on refrigerant.

QUESTION: The pressues are 220 High and 40 Low at 70F.

ANSWER: At 70F you should be at initial start up low 30 high 175 psi max.  From a cold start at 70F let me know what your pressures are.  I'm looking for a high head pressure(350 or more) or a very low suction pressure (15psi or less).  Let me know and I'll try and eliminate possibilities.  How did you charge system it calls for 25 oz.

QUESTION: At initial startup @ 60F it had 300-310 High and 85-90 low then after running a few minutes 125 High and 38 Low.

Answer
Ok I think your head pressure is too high at start up.  Try and release just a bit.  Not too much.  you will probably have your clutch start to cycle but that is good at 60F  I know you probably think you need to keep refrigerant for it to work properly.  I think you put too much refrigerant initially.  At 60F your pressure should be very low on the suction side.  Your cycling switch will disconnect at 18 psi and reconnect at 45 psi but the cycle will be longer than that clicking sound you were getting.
