Auto body repair & detailing: auto body, body shell, attachment point

Question
which type of vehicle construction uses a frame only in areas requiring extra support and a strong attachment point?

Answer
Rafa, Most modern automobiles are built using a uni-body structure[all light weight welded panels to form the main body shell]the only panels that are held on by fasteners are:fenders, hood, doors, deck lid ,bumpers and sub frames .The drive train, suspension and steering are all mounted to a bolt on sub frame made of heavier /stronger material than the uni-body shell. This saves weight yet is strong where needed.I Hope This Helps.
