QuestionQUESTION: ok i just got a tranmission put in my cadillac the mechanis test drove the car and said it was good to go. problem is i got there and the car will not start at all i mean nothing so we jumped it thinking it was the battery still nothing... now when i take the key out it says on the panel wait 3 minutes and counts down then says start car but still get nothing from it at all would you have any ideas and is it possible to by pass the alarm or reset it cause it has never worked since i bought the car any help is appreciated thank you

This is the most asked question these
days and yes, there is a solution that
will not cost you an arm and a leg.
Of course, & unfortunately, yes this
vehicle has a the PASSLOCK II key
based engine disabling system that is waring out
from use over time. The troublesome device is in
ALL 98+ GM vehicles, and yours is no exception.
To get around this, you will require a
GM IB-IM-PLJX bypass module to circunvent it and
KEEP IT THAT WAY!
A bypass is required to interupt PASSLOCK for
remote start applications. It is done by
grounding the system to allow it to start,
then re establish it for security usage.
This Passlock Bypass Module is designed to provide
a proper coded pulse to open the fuel rail
passlock injector cut off circuit.
The output from an alarm/remote starter
would then shut down the pulse, once it has detected
the engine has engaged, and preserve the integrity
of the passlock system.
That is it's designed purpose.
This is a self learning, resistor sensing
and self adjusting module. Once the VATS/PASSLOCK
wires have been tapped,
you would press the program button to learn,
and it does. The car should then allow start
with any hardware store key.

AnswerNo sorry, the wiring is not something I offer as
a volunteer at ALLXPERTS.com
However, when purchased at www.PASSLOCK2.com,
the info comes with the specifics to interface
for the PASSLOCK system you have in your car,
in the package I send out, along with a technical
support line.
If not certain how to install it, I would get a tech
on this one for best results.
