Car Alarms: alarm going off randomly, excalibur car, shock sensor

Question
Last weekend my excalibur car alarm (installed in 1998) started going off.  It just arbitrarily goes off when it wants to.  My system is set up to lock and unlock the doors.  Wondering if maybe the doors are unlocking for some reason with the alarm in set mode.  Or maybe something with the timer - it automatically sets the alarm and locks the doors after like 30 seconds when the doors are shut.  You may not have touched or been in the vehicle for 12 hours or more when something happens.

Any ideas?

Thanks, Debbie

Answer
Well, aside from the alarm passively arming,
there might be a vibration/knock sensor set too
high that needs resetting.

On the other subject,
The passive arming waits until the dome light
goes out, then will arm and lock 30 seconds later.
This is normal. See in your manual how to
toggle between passive, and active arming if this
is bothersome. I don't have the procedure
on the alarm to offer this however.
But you can go direct to Omega to find it.
Try www.caralarm.com
to see if they have this manual on they're
site.

But have a local shop turn down or, off the
shock sensor. They can get to be a pain over
time.

have a good weekend.
