Car Alarms: Black Widow car alarm problem, black widow car alarm, car alarm system

Question
I just bought a 2001 Corolla with a Black Widow car alarm system (it has 2
buttons on the remote) and it was working fine for a while.  One day I came
up to the car and unlocked the car and I tried to start it.  Nothing happened.
I popped the hood and I could hear the car alarm beeping faintly. It only
disabled when I put the key in the ignition or in the trunk keyhole.  I thought
maybe it was the battery because all of the lights in the car were dim and
thought that maybe the alarm had been activated and continously been
draining the battery, so I had the car jumped.

The alarm seemed to work fine again.  I could lock/unlock the doors as per
usual.  I started the car up and it worked fine, and I let it run for 15 minutes
or so.  So I turned the car off, and tried to turn it back on but it wouldn't even
turn over.  I unhooked the battery, then hooked it back up again and the LED
was not blinking.  When attempting to start the car again everything shut off.
not even the dome light was working.  Now, I can't even get the car started.
Re-jumping it doesn't do anything.  Help?

Answer
It appears you have a battery issue first of
all. I would start with testing the charging (alternator)
system, and then if ok, change out the car battery.
If not, then rebuild or get a new alternator
to fix this and all th other issues pertaining to
power loss.

The alarm is probably NOT the cause of this
issue. It's acting as if it can't pull enough power
tp operate correctly, and if you changed nothing,
then I am inclined to believe it to be the
battery/alt. and you should correct this
immediately.

Please have this looked at before trying
to mess with the alarm. Not an uncommon
problem, but it is usually what's happening when
you have this type of experience.

Let me know what you discover.
