Question -
What can cause the auto theft alarm system to intermittently activate itself? The car is a 1997 Lincoln Town Car.It can be just sitting parked, and it happens frequently.
Answer -
Is this an aftermarket auto alarm or
the Factory?
(factory=horn honking, and headlights flashing
aftermarket=siren, LED and parking lights flashing instead)

Let me know.

Answer
Then the factory system is experiencing
an elecronics fatigue from the sounds of it.
There are no external sensors to cause the
trouble, so it's more likely that it is
getting a bad reading at the door or trunk
triggers. Ford will charge you about 150.00
to locate and fix it.

If you want to disarm it
completely, locate the FACTORY ALARM DISARM wire
dk. green/purple at the LCM (lighting control module)
located to the left of the steering column, splice
into it, then ground this wire to the body
of the car.
This then removes the factory alarm for good.

Let me know which way you decide to go here,
because if you disarm it completely, this car
is wide open for theft at that point, and you
will be wanting to protect it.

Good luck with it either way.
