Car Stereos: connection of remote wire to 2012 deck, rear speakers, multimeter

Question
hi there. im installing a amp and sub to my 2012 accent. ive run the power and attached a line converter to the rear speakers for the amp.  Im a little stumped on how though to attach my remote wire. Ive been told its a yellow wire. Just unclear on which one and where. thanks for the help

Answer
Hi Dave,

If your line converter doesn't provide you with a remote wire, what you'll need to do is simply find a wire that carries 12V when the car is in accessory, or in the on position.  It doesn't actually matter which one, since the wire will only have enough current drawn from it to flip a relay (measured in milliamps).  Get a multimeter, and find something that has 12V DC when the car is on and in accessory, but 0 when the car is off.  Tap it, and run it to the remote input on your amplifier, and you're good to go.
