Car Stereos: Monsoon AM/FM with 6 disc in dash cd changer, santa fe hyundai, salvage yard

Question
I have a 2003 Santa Fe Hyundai with a Monsoon(TM) AM/FM Radio with 6 disc in sash CD changer.  My CD player stopped working.  It seems that it is not finding the CD's it just makes a clicking noise.  It will also not let me unload the CD's that are in the CD player.  Can this be fixed or is it possible to find another one to replace it with?  The dealership said it would cost $900.00 to replace it with them.

Answer
Debbie, Unfortunately, once the cd player mechanisms get messed up and cause problems like this, htere is not much that can be done with them.  Some good repair shops can repair them to work properly, but the cost is around $150 - $200.  They can, also, retrieve your cds for you.  If you want to permanently fix the problem, I would recommend getting an aftermarket stereo with the options you want and having it installed.  If you want to keep the factory stereo, you can buy used ones on ebay pretty cheap, or at your local salvage yard.  They guarantee to work properly.  Hope this helps, Scott
