Car Stereos: dual dvd player, dual dvd player, dual in dash dvd player

Question
I have a dual in dash dvd player that has worked fine for over a year now. I just had an engine swap on my truck and my mechanic is a good friend of mine.he called and said it wouldnt turn on and i just figured he didnt hold the power button in long enough or something. well still no power and i tried the fuses the direct power trick and any other thing i could think of. the unit has its own fuse but could it have fried during the engine swap... the battery was disconnected during the engine swap and i never turned the theft passcode on. any ideas?                 thanks

Answer
Hi Jake,

It probably wouldn't get fried by an engine swap or a battery disconnect, but a battery REconnect could have done it.

Get a multimeter and ensure you're getting 12V to the accessory and constant lines to the ground wire.  If you are, then you can eliminate the wiring/fuses as the issue.  From there, check for any fuses in the unit itself, and replace them if need be.  If it continues to fail, you'll have to take it to a shop to be looked at.
