BMW Repair: DSC control unit, angle sensors, 2000 bmw 528i

Question
QUESTION: In your reply to Tim 3/28/07 you said the DSC control unit ofr the 2000 BMW 528i is expensive. Can you give me an idea of the cost? Price for the part and an estimate of the labor.

Thank you

ANSWER: Lawana, A DSC control unit for your car is part 34 52 6 769 862 it is a repair module. Whether this exact part number will work on your car or not is to be seen, as you didn't not give the VIN number so I could look it up for your individual car. I had to pick a commonly used part number for your model. I would call the dealer for an exact quote using your VIN number to ensure you are sold the right part. You could have one of two systems ASC or DSC. This is why it is important. More over it doesn't sound like the problem has been professionally diagnosed. The more expensive the repair the more important the diagnosis. Right? Anyway just wanted to get that out there. The suggested retail price for that module is $759.00 USD
I would charge two hours labor not including diagnosis time. The module has to be installed, then coded to the car with programming equipment, the steering angle sensor must be recalibrated and then module taken out of a Belt (manufacturing) mode, also you have to have the faults cleared and vehicle test driven for proper operation of the system. Not an uncommon repair, but steering angle sensors are common too. That is why I would have it diagnosed at the dealer. Sorry for the length, just wanted you to know a little more surrounding your situation. If you do go to the dealer to have it diagnosed be sure to get a copy of the diagnosis report and fault print out.

QUESTION: The VIN # of the 528i is WBADM6347YGU23536. I did have a professional diagnose the car.  These were his comments: Various codes in 2KE /DME/MR53/ and DSC 5.7 systems; clear all codes. Pressure line sensor code present-(#51) will not clear. When he talked with me he said I needed to bring the car back because he had to research what he had to do. Can you give me an updated price for the part? I will have to go to the dealer. Now I have a service engine light and the ASD+T/DSC light. None of these lights were on until I had the brakes done on the back and the front with the front rotors and senor replaced. Thank you for your help.

Answer
Lawana, My parts catalog isn't working at the moment. You will get a price for the unit if that is what they diagnose aswell. Service engine light is coincidence and I doubt it has to do with the brakes or the DSC faults. Be sure to get a copy of your print outs. You may just need a hydraulic pressure sensor. Wouldn't that be nice?
