Alfa Romeo Repair: Alfa Q System Fault, alfa 156, q system

Question
My Alfa 156 2.5 litre has Q-system transmission.  Car has only done 20,000 miles.  I've noticed the first couple of 'up' changes of the day in City mode don't take place until about 3,000rpm, but thereafter take place normally about 1,500rpm. So that's OK. But in Sport mode car will not change up from 3rd to 4th.  Regardless of accelerator position the engine just sits at about 5,ooo rpm and 'hunts', trying to change up.  If I switch into City mode the change to 4th takes place immediately.  Have tried to check fluid level as advertised, but it is next to impossible as the dipstick always comes up totally wetted with fluid, giving no indication of level at all.  Any ideas?

Answer
From your description of the dipstick, the trans is overfull.

However, I am in the usa and do not have access to the latest data on the electronics. Try this site: www.alfaowner.com/forum.

I apologize for the delay. Had trouble connecting the day your
request came through.
