Audio Systems: security setting for my car cd player, car cd player, honda dealers

Question
Hi there, i had to remove my car stereo for repairs and i can seem to get it woking again as the stereo is asking for a security code. I drive Honda Accord 2000 model.
cheers!

Answer
Sorry, but you must obtain the code.  It is an anti-theft code and it does not do its job if the code were easily obtained, don't you think?

So, you must go to Honda or some party that specializes in obtaining the codes.  You must be able to prove your ownership of the car.  Some Honda dealers will obtain the code for you free of charge, but most of them charge some money because the administration of the codes is done by a third party.   They will ask you for the model information and serial number of the radio as well as proof of ownership.  A honda dealer may refer you to another party that does it in your area.

If you purchased the car new you should have papers that provide the code and instructions on how to bring it back to life.

If you bot the car used from another party you should have refused purchase unless they could provide you with the theft code.

This company claims they can provide you with the code (for a fee):

but I cannot vouch for them; but worth a try.

Hope this helps.
