Audio Systems: Subwoofer box......help!!, dual voice coil, alpine type r 12

Question
I recently purchased two new Alpine Type R 12's. They are dual voice coil subs (4 ohms per coil). Power handling is rated at 500 RMS per sub. I am using a Fosgate Power T10001BD (rated at 1000 rmsX1 at 1 ohm....which i have the speakers wired to one ohm). For the front stage I have Alpine Type R 6.5 components, Kenwood amp, and Phoenix Gold EQ. I have a Kenwood head unit. The setup is in a 1996 four door Tahoe. I have 1/0 gauge wire, power cap, everything is there. My question is . . . . what box would you recommend? Right now the subs are in a Q Logic vented box with 1.25 sq. ft. per sub. It sounds ok but not what I expected for the money I spent. What box style and size would you recommend for my application? Any help would be great!!!
PS :     Should I get outstanding bass with this setup or should I get new components?

Answer
I will not define all of the possibles in a public post.
It is not my intention to publicly post a book online for free.

Unless you are willing to download, learn and use WINISD/LEAP or another similar speaker/box loading application, I would go with what Alpine suggests, which is a sealed small enclosure between 0.70 and 1.00 Cu ft per driver. If you like the sound of 'ports', you selected the wrong speaker (at least as far as easy loading goes).

In a nutshell:
I usually buy speakers based on how they will load (first and foremost). How they will (then) sound in different enclosures is very dependant on that first factor since in many cases they are very specific (and limnited) on the suggested loading.

The next question deals with first defining what YOU mean my 'outstanding'. This could mean accuracy, Pure SPL, extended low bass or even 'chuffing mud' (that is, for all I know of your expectations at this point, Jeremy).
Subjectively, 'outstanding' can mean a variety of things to as many people as you ask.

If you want to re-ask this question in private mode (and be a little more precise in what you are expecting), I can elaborate (and assist) more effectively and specifically.

Sincerely,
Jerry Mael
