Audi Repair: Audi Tranmission, audi vag, electrical problem

Question
Hi Greg
I'm from Northeast Ohio and we recently had some flooding, my 1993 Audi 100 was flooded up to the center console.  I spent two weeks drying the car out, the brain, battery, etc... Everything seems to work fine but now the car will not shift into reverse and the indicator on the dash reads incorrectly.  Is this an electrical problem due to having the car submerged?  Water in the tranmission? Or what?  Please point me in a general direction.
Thanks for your assistance
Mike

Answer
Hi Mike
I'm sorry about your car. This sounds like more like electrical problem, because shifter indicator is showing some other gear   ?. On these cars is hard to say what is wrong unless , the car is connectedto the scaner or audi VAG. Than, you can see what gear is selected  and what TCM (tras control module) see. That 's why is very important to check for faults first , before changing parts and you know they not cheap. The worst thing is , and I saw many flooded cars, that there  will be more problems later on.
Wire harness have many crimp connections and thye will rust out in next year,   SORRY. There is nothing you can do.
good luck.                pltech
let me know if you get any faults from TCM
