Cadillac Repair: 1969 FLEETWOOD, power steering fluid leak, fleetwood cadillac

Question
I HAVE A 1969 FLEETWOOD CADILLAC THAT HAS 80K ORIGINAL MILES.
DURING A DRIVE THE OTHER DAY I STARTED HEARING A GRINDING NOISE
EVERY TIME I TURNED.  WHEN I STOPPED THE CAR I NOTICED WHAT LOOKED
LIKE ATF POURING OUT THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR UNDER THE STEERING
COLUMN.  THE STEERING WHEEL WIL NOT TURN AND MAKES A HORRIBLE
NOISE WHEN I START UP THE CAR.  I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND NOTICED
THE FLUID IS COMING FROM THE STEERING COULM AREA.  COULD IT BE A
BAD STEERING COLUM AND WHAT IS A BALLPARK COST TO FIX SOMETHING
LIKE THIS?
THANKS

Answer
Your problem is most likely a leak in the power steering hose that goes from the power steering pump to the power steering gear which is located in the engine compartment.

There is NOTHING wrong with your steering column. Just look and locate the power steering fluid leak.
