Chevrolet Repair: 89 GMC quit and wont start, chassis grounds, thanks in advance

Question
I have an 89 GMC 1/2 ton with EFI
I was going down the road 65 and my truck just died, like I shut it off. After looking it over I had no fuel in the throttle body, their was fuel to the (carb), Its my understanding the computer will stop fueling when the ignition fails. no excess corrosion in the cap, the coil gives spark and the plug wire has spark.  I have had no problems with it except the check engine like witch has been looked at and "repaired"over and over and it still comes on occasionally during deceleration.  repair include; computer exhaust sensor Idle sensor and egr valve none of which have fixed it for more tan a month or two. right now I just want to get it running so I can have it all checked again (at the certified mechanics)
Thanks in advance.

Answer
this is an old system.  The computer on newer trucks, say 96 and up stop the fuel, older ones still let fuel in.  If you just died while driving, it most likely is a fuel related issue.  Check the connection at the fuel pump, and the ground for the pump.  Listen when you turn the key on to see if you hear the pump kick on.  If you don't hear it, it's most likely the pump itself or just a bad connection.  Also check the battery grounds and chassis grounds.  I've been seeing alot of these lately causing check engine lights and stalling issues.
