Chevrolet Repair: Transmission, chevy blazer, torque converter

Question
I have a 1993 Chevy Blazer with a 4.3 Vortec engine. It is equipped with an automatic transmission with overdrive.Yesterday it started making a whining noise. It makes the noise when it is in park and when I put it in drive it speeds up as the engine RPMs increase.

Answer
Since I don't have the vehicle to look at the first thing I would try is:

Purchase a can of BELT DRESSING and spray all the fan belts just to eliminate these as a possible noise.

If your sure that the noise is coming from between the engine and the transmission, Then this sounds like a TORQUE CONVERTER failure that is soon to come apart. I would get to a reputable transmission facility and have this looked at NOW, BEFORE the converter comes apaert and spreads tiny pieces of metal throughout your transmission.

Remember, I don't have access to hear this NOISE, So I am only going on past experience.
