Chrysler Repair: Convertible: Water puddles in rear floor area, rubber flap, drain holes

Question
i have water coming in on only 1 side of the car it looks as if through the floor to the rear. it is a 99 seabring convertable  on the side that gets water i found a small spring that goes from the roofs shell to the body is broken could it be that easy?

Answer
Hi Corey,
I believe that the intrusion of water into the interior is expected to occur. The solution, in the design of the body, is to provide drain holes to allow the water to get out of the floor pan. If you will look along underside of the body approximately in line where the tires are located, either in front of or behind the tires and symmetrically identical on the other side, you will find some drain holes that have a rubber flap covering them to keep dirt from covering the holes via mud from the road. Once you locate the flaps simply put a wire through the hole in the body metal to 'clear' the drain hole so as to allow the puddles of water to drain out. I believe these are located both hind the door opening of the vehicle and also in the area in front of the door opening. So look to see what you can find on the underside of the body as I have described. Please let me know if this proves to be helpful.
