Chrysler Repair: 2004 chrysler sebring 2.7l, spring compressor tool, roller rocker arms

Question
hi, i have just changed out a water pump and timing chain on a 2004 chrysler sebring 2.7l v6 24 valve. in doing so i am pretty sure with as much trouble as i had with the timing tensioner your other threads have helped me get through that. but my question is after getting the timing chain on and timing set correctly, i started the vehicle and it would not idle, ran rough, and made a lot of clicking noise like lifter noise. so i pulled the valve covers and intake off again to double check my timing and work. doing this i notice that a roller rocker arm on the intake cam on the front head was off and laying down in the head, i reposition the rocker arm and tried to just turn the motor over real quick to see if it would stay and it did. but another rocker arm at that time had come off. im a little confused on why these roller rocker arms are falling off. i have inspected them and they seem fine compared with the others that are not coming off. i am pretty sure that my problem with the idleing and the running rough when starting is because those 2 intake valves are not opening. but am just not sure on why they keep coming off and if you had any suggestions. thanks

Hi Steven,
The manual suggests that to remove and to install the rocker arms you would normally need to compress the valve spring a small amount (using a spring compressor tool 8215 and adapter 8216).
The fact that you experienced a lot of clicking suggests to me that for some reason the valve lifters have not been pumped up due to there being insufficient oil pressure along the camshaft oil passages. How is the oil level? I think that must be the issue, spongy lifters, that is allowing there to be so much clearance that the rockers are free to disassemble from their positions without having to compress the valve springs. So verify whether the lifters (adjusters) are firm or not, and if not, why not.
